Values start with the worked example below. Replace every allowance with your own quote. Changing the currency clears amounts; it does not convert them.

Start with the landing time at Incheon

A daytime arrival and a late-night arrival can produce different day-one costs even at the same hotel. Compare airport rail, a bus serving your area and a taxi quote for the whole party. Include the onward trip from the station or bus stop to your accommodation, luggage capacity and the time you expect to clear arrivals.

Use Incheon Airport's current transport information to check service hours for your terminal. If you may miss the last suitable service, price a usable backup before choosing the hotel. A taxi is a group cost while rail or bus tickets usually need a passenger count; enter the completed transfer total in intercity / airport transport.

A six-day Seoul budget, with Busan as a separate choice

This example starts with two adults, six spending days and five nights in one Seoul room. These are invented allowances for demonstrating the worksheet, reviewed September 15, 2026. They are not a survey of Korean prices, an advertised hotel offer or a KTX fare quote.

At KRW 120,000 per room-night, lodging comes to KRW 600,000. Food at KRW 35,000 per person per day adds KRW 420,000; subway/bus spending at KRW 8,000 adds KRW 96,000. The group reserves KRW 80,000 for airport transfers, KRW 120,000 for attractions and entertainment, KRW 40,000 for data, KRW 70,000 for insurance and KRW 150,000 for shopping.

That is KRW 1,576,000 before a 10% reserve of KRW 157,600: KRW 1,733,600 in total, excluding unentered international flights and baggage. It is KRW 866,800 each, or about KRW 144,467 per traveler per day. The calculator defaults reproduce these inputs.

What would adding Busan cost?

Keep six days and five nights, but move two nights to Busan. For an illustrative scenario B, add KRW 200,000 for the group's KTX journeys and KRW 40,000 in extra accommodation across those nights. Change the intercity field from 80,000 to 280,000 and the five-night room average from 120,000 to 128,000. The new buffered total is KRW 1,997,600, an increase of KRW 264,000. Airport transfers remain included once.

The extra base is worthwhile only if Busan contributes enough to your trip to justify that difference and the travel time. Check whether you must return to Seoul for the outbound flight; the example rail allowance must cover every required segment. Use actual KORAIL tickets, seat availability and room quotes before deciding.

Choose the Seoul neighborhood for the days you have

Test Myeongdong, Hongdae or another shortlisted base against your own map: airport arrival, the first and last stop each day, transfers and the walk to the room. A cheaper address can be good value when it fits that map. An inconvenient address may add rides and make a short stay feel rushed.

A solo visitor pays the room bill alone; two people sharing can divide it. A family may need a different occupancy or room arrangement altogether. Keep the nightly field equal to the total for every room, and use enough rest time to avoid budgeting for a busy attraction schedule you will not enjoy.

Separate fares, Tmoney balance and discretionary spending

Tmoney helps pay for eligible local transport; a top-up is money set aside to pay fares. Count the journeys in the subway/bus allowance and avoid adding that same balance to shopping. Check card purchase, recharge and refund conditions separately, especially if a balance may remain at departure.

Budget food around your planned meals: market visits, casual restaurants and longer sit-down meals. Track cafés, entertainment and paid attractions explicitly so repeated small purchases do not disappear into a vague daily number. The sample places ordinary meals and drinks in food; add special entertainment to activities and count each purchase once.

For KTX, choose travel dates and every leg before looking at passes. Record the passenger count and any required return to the departure airport. The money comparison can help estimate how card or ATM fees affect the amount you need in your home currency.

The six spending days and five hotel nights are independent inputs. Save scenario A before changing the Busan allowance; it lasts until reset or leaving the tab. A reserve helps expose uncertainty but cannot ensure affordability or replace travel insurance.
